COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

 

OVERVIEW
OKAY!! OKAY!! is seeking a Communications Manager to serve as the lead on all public relations activities for clients, including (but not limited to) editorial strategy and outreach, media relations, social media influencers, and press materials. The ideal candidate must have a strong network of U.S. editorial relationships with editors across key lifestyle national media and experience managing a communications team. We are looking for brand connectors, strategic, creative thinkers and strong storytellers who love what they do as much as we do.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategizing and implementing innovative and engaging publicity campaigns and creative media strategies from conception to execution with a goal to drive sales and increase brand awareness.

  • Secure top level national press within digital and print publications ranging from product placement to broader editorial storytelling opportunities.

  • Work with client marketing and communications teams to develop effective, consumer-facing press strategies around product launches, events and overall brand storytelling.

  • Manage all public relations copywriting including press releases, media alerts, boilerplates and additional client communications deliverables as needed.

  • Creates budgets and negotiates costs for all publicity activities.

  • Manage and oversee all client and internal meetings and brainstorms.

  • Nurture and develop relationships with key media and influencer contacts.

  • Negotiate optimum placements for publicity assets, features and promotions.

  • Build relationships with potential brand partners.

  • Collaborate with client social media and creative teams to offer added value and service for publicity clients.

  • Ensure timely and thorough weekly reporting of all public relations efforts are communicated to the clients. Continuously research relevant press opportunities for product placement within each brand’s target market.

  • Provide day-to-day communications management within OKAY!!OKAY!!, overseeing PR associate staffers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Desired 5-10 years experience managing national press campaigns for top-level brands within the consumer goods industry.

  • A strong understanding of traditional media and demonstrated success managing media relations campaigns and programs from ideation through execution and reporting.

  • Brand connector, with ability to bring brands and key people together to make things happen.

  • A creative storyteller with a keen eye for what makes a compelling story.

  • Experience and understanding of PR databases/tools – i.e. Cision, PR Newswire, etc.

  • Proven success in building and maintaining a positive rapport with agencies, colleagues, and executive leadership.

  • Strong at planning, organizing, prioritizing, and executing simultaneous projects.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills.

  • A self-starter with tenacity for execution and delivery.

  • Ability to work successfully and efficiently within a remote work environment
